FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS?

There will be several toilets on site. There are limited changing facilities in place with showering available upon completion of the race. We will provide a basic system to help competitors wash off any excess dirt.

Parking & Directions

The event is held at Hesley Wood Activity Centre, White Lane, Chapeltown, Sheffield, S35 2YH. 15 minutes from Sheffield City Centre and 5 minutes’ walk from Chapeltown Rail Station. Hesley Wood is situated 5 minutes from Junctions 35 & 35a off the M1. Parking will be available on site, with overflow parking available off-site.

What to wear

No football boots or spikes can be worn on the course. Please wear normal flat-soled training shoes. The best footwear is a pair of old trainers with nice tight laces or, as competitors have done in the past- gaffer taped on!
We would advise competitors to arrive in the clothing they intend to wear racing and bring a change of clothes, towel and some bin bags for the trip home. Cotton clothing is not advisable to race in as it will retain water from the ponds as you work through the rest of the course. Most competitors – if not in fancy dress! – opt for a base-layer style top and running shorts or leggings.
You will receive your event t-shirt when you register on the day.
We do not have a secure facility for valuables. We can provide an area for competitors to leave their bags, but we would advise that you leave all valuables at home where possible.

Spectators

No Spectators are permitted on the course. There are designated spectator areas from where you can see the majority of obstacles. The ground in the area may be rough and potentially muddy. Parking will be available on site.

Course

The Mud Madness course is designed to be challenging for all – whether you’re a serious athlete or just coming along for the fun, our unique course will fit your needs! Short and simple, if we can do it, you can do it!

Course Marshals

There will be marshals stationed at each of the obstacles on the Mud Madness course. They will be there for your safety and to assist competitors when required. Marshals will not be able to help all competitors, so we have installed ropes at challenging climbs to help you out of the mud!

Please be courteous and respectful to fellow competitors, staff and marshals. Any offensive violations of this statement will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event. The marshals are good peeps, they’ve given up their time to help you out, so a nice thank you, a smile, minimal mud splatter, it’s all appreciated!

Please note, a number of the supporters at Mud Madness are young children so please be mindful of your language and gestures whilst at the event.

Cancellation/ Refund

In the event of an entrant not being able to take part or the event being postponed, no refunds will be offered. If the event is postponed it will be rescheduled at the first appropriate opportunity.
